# Referral Program

The referral program lets you share Wing Tools with colleagues and friends. When someone subscribes using your referral, you both get **40% off** -- they save on their first subscription, and you earn a reward to use on yours.

## How It Works

1. **You share** your personal referral link or code
2. **They register** and subscribe to any paid plan with 40% off
3. **You earn** a 40% discount reward after a 14-day confirmation period

## Finding Your Referral Code

To access your referral code and shareable link:

1. Click your account name in the top navigation
2. Select **Refer a Friend** from the dropdown menu
3. Your referral page shows:
   - Your personal referral code (e.g., `WING-A1B2C3`)
   - A shareable link that automatically applies the code at registration
   - Your referral statistics (total, pending, confirmed, claimed)

You can copy either the code or the link and share it however you like -- email, chat, or in person.

## What Happens When Someone Uses Your Code

When a colleague registers using your referral link or enters your code during sign-up:

1. **They get 40% off** their first paid subscription (any tier, any billing period)
2. **A 14-day confirmation hold begins** once they subscribe
3. **After 14 days**, if the subscription is still active, your reward is confirmed
4. **You receive a notification** that your reward is ready to claim

## The 14-Day Confirmation Period

Every referral goes through a 14-day hold before your reward is confirmed. This exists because all new subscriptions come with a 14-day refund guarantee. If the referred user cancels and gets a refund within that window, the referral is voided and no reward is issued.

**During the hold:**

- The referral shows as "Pending" on your referrals page
- No action is needed from you -- just wait

**After the hold clears:**

- The referral moves to "Confirmed"
- Your reward becomes available to claim

## Claiming Your Reward

Once a referral is confirmed, you can claim your 40% discount. Go to the **Claimable Rewards** section on your referrals page and click **Claim Reward**.

You have three options for how to use your reward:

- **Apply to current plan** -- Get 40% off your next invoice on your current tier and billing period
- **Upgrade your tier** -- Move to a higher tier with 40% off the first invoice
- **Switch billing period** -- Change from monthly to semi-annual or annual (or vice versa) with 40% off

The claim modal shows you exactly what each option costs before you confirm.

**Flexible reward use:** You can strategically use rewards for any plan change. For example, if you're on a Basic monthly plan, you can refer colleagues, wait for rewards to confirm, then use them to upgrade to Premium annual with 40% off. This gives you maximum flexibility to apply discounts where they provide the most value.

**Eligibility:** You must have an active paid subscription past the 14-day refund period to claim rewards. Free tier users cannot claim referral rewards.

## Limits and Expiry

- **Maximum 10 referrals** per account
- **Up to 3 pending referrals** at a time (waiting for the 14-day hold)
- **Rewards expire 90 days** after confirmation -- claim them before they expire
- Each referred user can only be referred once (duplicate codes are rejected)

## Referral Statuses

| Status | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| Pending | The referred user subscribed; waiting for the 14-day hold to clear |
| Confirmed | The hold has cleared and your reward is ready to claim |
| Claimed | You have claimed and used the reward |
| Voided | The referred user cancelled or refunded within 14 days |
